The Magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital has granted controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, bail.
Portable, who was arraigned with a five-count charge, was granted bail to the tune of N2 million, with two sureity who must be licensed bonds men registered with the Ogun state government.
The musician was charged with conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction, armed with cutlass and gun and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the five count charges preferred against him.
The matter was therefore adjourned till March 5, 2025 for hearing.
Portable was arraigned over his alleged involvement in a violent attack on officials of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, who were on official duty at his bar in Sango Ota area of the state.
The Senior State counsel, Mr Timileyin Oredein, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 5 at about 10:00am at Oke-Osa in Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota in Ogun.
Oredein, said that the defendant a.k.a Portable with some of his staff unlawfully assaulted, restricted and obstructed Tpl Abidemi Onabanjo, Tpl Ramon Lateef, Tpl Akinpelumi Oyero who are Town Planners.
He said the defendant assaulted the three Town planning officers, while performing their lawful duties at Odogwu Bar owned by him
Oredein, added that they also conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace.
He noted that the offences committed contravened Sections 516, 356(3), 80, 249(d), 197 of the Criminal Code laws of Ogun, 2006
However, the defandant counsel Mrs Oluwatoyin Omomehin, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in liberals term
The Magistrate, Mr O.L, Oke, before pronouncing his bail, however warned the defendant not to make comments on social media or cause trouble regarding the case.
He said if the defendant violates the condition, his bail will be withdrawn.
