A Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced 37 offenders each to one month in prison for violating the Ekiti State Environmental Health and Sanitation Laws during last Saturday’s sanitation exercise.
The 37 offenders, convicted by Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele, were, however, given the option of a fine.
In her ruling, Magistrate Bamidele stated that the offenders had failed to adhere to the state’s environmental sanitation guidelines, stressing that their conviction would serve as a deterrent to others.
Fifteen other suspected offenders were discharged after their cases were heard by the court.
