The Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has adjourned till December 8, 2025, the case challenging the emergence of Wole Oluyede as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State.
Oluyede was declared the winner of the PDP gubernatorial primary held on November 8, 2025, by the Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo-led electoral committee.
He polled 279 votes to defeat his closest rival, Funsho Ayeni, as well as Mrs Funmi Ogun.
However, in the suit marked FHC/AD/CS/29/2025, Ayeni is seeking the nullification of Oluyede’s victory, insisting that the primary was flawed.
At Friday’s proceedings, Kola Kolade, SAN, led a team of lawyers for Ayeni, while Ola Olanipekun, SAN, and Barr. Owoseni Ajayi represented Oluyede. The PDP was represented by the party’s Osun State Legal Adviser, Barr. Ola Alonge, who held a brief.
After listening to arguments from all parties, Justice Babs Ikuewumi assured that the matter would be given urgent attention.
He declared that he would “ensure speedy hearing of the case” before adjourning further proceedings to December 8, 2025.
In other news, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has explained the reason why the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, failed to attend the party’s primary election in the state.
According to him, Adeleke believes that the internal crisis in the party would stop the PDP from producing a validly recognised candidate.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Sani alleged that the governor planned to defect to another party to secure a ticket and later return to the PDP.
Sani alleged that the governor deliberately avoided the process to create grounds for temporarily defecting.
Sani, who chaired the three-man ad hoc delegates committee for Osun, said he personally supervised the delegates’ election in Osogbo.
According to him, the exercise was conducted peacefully, the results were uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, and were officially acknowledged.
He said the party rejected such a strategy, insisting that all aspirants must contest on the PDP platform to preserve the party’s integrity.
