A Nigerian couple, Dr. Emmanuel Joseph and Grace Akpan, have melted hearts online after officially tying the knot 18 years after they first met as teenagers in secondary school.

The lovebirds, who began their journey as classmates in SS1, exchanged marriage vows on October 11, 2025, in Akwa Ibom State, surrounded by family, friends, and well-wishers.

To celebrate their remarkable journey from teenage crushes to life partners, the couple recreated an old photograph from 2007, capturing a moment from their classroom days.

The nostalgic image, shared on Facebook, has since gone viral, with many Nigerians admiring their enduring love and commitment.

In a heartfelt post, Grace recounted how their love story began when Emmanuel transferred to her school nearly two decades ago.

She fondly recalled being drawn to his “cuteness and intelligence,” while his persistence and charm eventually won her heart.

“He told me I would be his wife, and that statement has turned into reality. “Back then, he wouldn’t let me rest in class. He was always smiling whenever our eyes met.” Grace wrote.

Despite teenage fears and life’s many twists, their friendship grew stronger, blossoming into a relationship that stood the test of time.

Their story is now inspiring countless Nigerians, a beautiful reminder that true love may take time, but it never fades.
