The United States has issued a warning that Nigerian politicians and government officials involved in corrupt practices could be denied entry into the country.
In a statement shared via its official X page on Monday, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria stressed that the fight against corruption is a global one and that accountability applies to everyone, including those in positions of power.
“Fighting corruption knows no borders or limits on accountability. Even when high-profile individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving US Visas,” the Mission declared.

Over the years, the U.S. has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to backing Nigeria’s anti-corruption initiatives.
In the past, visa restrictions have been placed on politicians accused of election malpractice and undermining democratic processes.
The warning comes amid growing concerns from transparency advocates about the alleged mismanagement of public funds and misuse of office at various levels of government in Nigeria.
