Congress: Nenadi Usman’s Labour Party Calls On IG To Arrest Abure, Supporters

The Senator Nenadi Usman led Labour Party has called on the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute Barrister Juulius Abure and his group for purportedly planning a Labour Party congress scheduled for December for 2nd, 4th, or 6th December, or on any other dates.

The party said the police must swing into action except if such activities are duly authorised by what it described as “the legitimate leadership of the Party headed by Senator Nenadi Usman.”

A statement by the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ife Salako, reminded the Inspector General of Police (IGP) that the force is the 6th Defendant/Respondent in a matter where the High Court of Abia State sitting in Isiala Ngwa on 26th November, restrained Barr. Julius Abure and his illegal National Working Committee from proceeding with their purported and unlawful ward, local government, and state congresses.”

It stated that the court interim order granted in Suit No: HIN/47/2025 sought by Hon. (Sir) Emmanuel Nwaeze Otti, declared the exercise null and void.

The Senator Usman’s Led LP also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which it claimed is the 7th Defendant/Respondent in the case, to act responsibly.

It said INEC being a responsible and law-abiding institution, is advised to dissociate itself from this illegality being orchestrated by individuals determined to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of the Commission.

This is as Salako’s statement urged the party’s “teeming members nationwide to completely disregard the so-called congresses being promoted by Julius Abure and his associates.

“As a law-abiding political party, we enjoin all our members to respect and comply with the court’s directive.

“The Labour Party congresses will commence soon, and members will be duly informed once the details are finalised.

In line with the Electoral Act and all relevant laws, the Labour Party will formally notify INEC of its authentic activities once its timetable for congresses and convention is released.”
