President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been adjudged the highest promoter of Environmental Health in Nigeria. This was announced by the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON), the body responsible for the regulation of Environmental Health in the country.
The president’s investiture with the award will highlight the Maiden National Environmental Health Excellence Award (NEHEA) scheduled for Tuesday, 18th February, 2025 at the Banquet Hall, State House, Asokoro, Abuja.
In a press release, EHCON, its organizer, says that the awards recognize the contributions of both public and private sector operators and other stakeholders to the delivery of Environmental Health practice and services in Nigeria. It lists the following categories in which awards will be made:
- Highest Prestigious Award
- National Legislators Award
- Ministerial Award
- Governors’ Award
- Royal Fathers Award
- Public Officers Award
- Private Sector Award
- Corporate Entity Award
- Supporting Institutions/Development Partner Award
- Distinguished Environmental Health Practitioner Award
On the occasion, the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also perform the following functions:
- Unveiling of the National Environmental Health Practice Regulations (NEHPR), 2025;
- Launch of the Premises-based National Green House Gases (GHGs) Emission Monitoring Programme (NGHGEMP); and
According to the programme, Mr. President will be investred with the following:
- Grand Patron of the Society for Environmental Public Health of Nigeria (SEPHON)
- Fellow of the Chattered Institute of Management and Leadership – USA
