Conference League: Crystal Palace crush Dynamo Kyiv to set new unbeaten record

Crystal Palace continued their impressive form as they cruised to a 2-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in their Conference League opener, setting a club record of 19 games unbeaten.

Daniel Muñoz’s looping header from Yeremy Pino’s back-post cross put the Eagles on their way to success in their first-ever match in the main phase of a European competition.

Substitute Eddie Nketiah doubled the advantage just before the hour mark with a sharp close-range finish after a dazzling bit of skill and incisive delivery from Pino on the left.

Summer signing Pino set up both goals to mark an outstanding European debut for his new club in Poland.

Palace’s Borna Sosa was sent off late on for two yellow cards in the space of three minutes, but it had little impact on the outcome. Dynamo Kyiv registered their only shot on target in the closing stages, with the result already beyond doubt.

The victory sent around 3,500 travelling Palace fans into raptures. By full-time, they were not only celebrating a historic first away win in Europe but also breaking a club record set back in 1969 by extending their unbeaten run to 19 matches across all competitions.

It was no more than Oliver Glasner’s side deserved against opponents who have struggled to live up to their rich European pedigree of previous decades.
