The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom
Wike, has cautioned residents against resorting to social media to complain
over their problems.
Wike noted that even if citizens complain on social media 50
million times, “what they won’t get through the door, they won’t get it through
the window.”
He urged citizens to always support and call the attention
of the government to their problems.
Wike spoke at the flag-off of the construction of Collector
Road C01 in Institution and Research District linking the Body of Benchers to
Nile University Area, including a bridge.
His comment comes as a former presidential candidate, Peter
Obi had raised an alarm over the deplorable state of the LEA primary school in
Kapwa area of Abuja.
However, Wike urged citizens to always make their
contributions when the opportunity arises.
Wike said: “Yesterday we were at Ken Udeze Streets to
commission those roads. And I told them that unknown to us, I had to say it to
everybody to know, I may stay in this Abuja for about five, six, seven, 10, 20,
but it will be difficult for you to know the entire Abuja.
“It will be very difficult, and so you need the support of
good citizens who will call the attention of the government that certain areas
need some attention.
“I told people if you like go 50 million times to social
media, what you didn’t get through the door, you won’t get it through the
window.
“We must be, I mean, yes, we believe in criticism, but more
constructive criticism. I hope all of us will understand that no government,
even if it stays 20 years, even if one of these African countries that have
stayed for 43 years and here, or 45 years as president, cannot solve the entire
problems of that country.
“What’s important now, when you have an opportunity, make
your own contribution.”
