Communal clash: Senator presents SUV to Osun monarch

The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has presented a brand-new Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) to the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

This follows a recent communal clash between Esa-Oke and Ido Ajegunle in Obokun Local Government Area, which led to the loss of lives and the destruction of properties.

Oba Adediran lost some of his vehicles during the violence, as hoodlums vandalised and set them ablaze, along with other personal belongings. Properties belonging to many residents were also destroyed.

The clash resulted in multiple fatalities, with several others, including police officers, sustaining injuries.

The violence erupted over the appointment of Prince Timileyin Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido Ajegunle, a neighbouring community to Esa-Oke, by Governor Ademola Adeleke. However, indigenes of Esa-Oke opposed the appointment, arguing that Ajayi hails from Ilesa.

Reacting, Senator Fadahunsi condemned the crisis and urged both communities to avoid violence and destruction of property in the face of disagreements.

Represented by the lawmaker for Obokun at the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Irekandu, and a chairmanship aspirant for the upcoming local government election, Hon. Olajire, Fadahunsi presented the vehicle key to Oba Adediran and pledged continued support for the traditional institution.

In his remarks, Oba Adediran thanked the senator for his unwavering support for the people.
