COAS Shuaibu Makes Maiden Visit to Borno, Reaffirms FG’s Resolve Against Insurgency

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has arrived in Borno State on his first operational visit since assuming office, underscoring the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to defeating insurgency in the North East.

The visit to the headquarters of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri marks a significant boost to troops’ morale as they intensify operations against remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.

During the tour, Lt. Gen. Shuaibu is scheduled to engage with commanders of various military formations across the region, review ongoing counter-insurgency strategies, and assess welfare and logistical support for personnel on the front lines.

Sources within the military high command say the COAS will emphasize enhanced coordination, intelligence sharing, and rapid response capabilities to sustain recent gains, including the neutralization of high-value targets and liberation of communities long under terrorist control.

The Army Chief’s presence comes amid renewed federal push for total victory, with Operation Hadin Kai recording over 1,200 successful operations and the rescue of hundreds of hostages in the past year alone.

Troops expressed optimism that the visit signals stronger political will and resource allocation to end the decade-long conflict and enable safe returns for displaced populations.
