Coalition chides Zamfara Governor Dauda for being absent despite insecurity

A Coalition of Youth group on Peace and Stability in Zamfara state has called on Governor Dauda Lawal to return and concentrate on good governance and tackling security challenges after his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chairman of the coalition, Maidamma Maigadaje Dangulbi stated this in a phone interview with newsmen on Wednesday.

Dangulbi decried  Lawal’s attitude abandoning the state with enormous banditry challenges and devolved in politics.

”2027 is still far, Lawal need to concentrate fully on good governance as the the state needed more development infrastructures and services, especially in the rural areas where people are suffering as results of poverty, insecurity and health challenges.

”The security operatives in Zamfara deserves more encouragement, support and  the governor is still far from them, sometimes they can’t get access to him for intelligence sharing.

”We urged Gov. Lawal to hasten return back to Zamfara and stop his concentrations on party leadership politics as people needed his presence,” he said.

He lamented the increased incidents of banditry and kidnappings during rainy season in Tsafe, Maru, Bukkuyum, Gummi, Shinkafi and Zurmi local government areas while the governor was away.

The group commended efforts of troops of Fansan Yamma on their recent operational activities to secure some areas where banditry is becoming rampant, despite lack of support and attention from the state government.

A faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike had expelled some notable members of including Gov. Lawal from the PDP.
