Coalition Charts New Path For PDP Ahead 2027 Election

AKURE – A group of young leaders within Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Coalition Of Democratic Leaders (CODL), has charted a new path for the party to come out victorious in 2027 general elections.

The group, in its strategic engagement meeting held at the historic Wadata Plaza in Abuja, drafted some programmes for the leadership and members of the party which if implemented would place the party on a pedestal to win the presidential election.

CODL under the selfless and visionary leadership of Eje Pascal PhD(National Team Lead) and the local organising committee ably lead by Hon. Josie Itoyah-Splendor, with the support of the national leadership of the PDP under the leadership of H.E Amb. Umar Damagun, suggested the importance of educating and sensitizing the electorate.

The group said PDP should embark on a special programme to “inform citizens about their voting rights, electoral processes, and expected PDP lead government policies.

In a communique signed by the Assistant National Secretary of the coalition, Chief Nhiaraonye Chinyiriuwa Quentin, it suggested that the leadership of the party should encourage voter turnout and participation by mobilizing people to register and vote through campaigns, rallies, and grassroots engagement was part of the recommendations of the coalition.

Aside, that recruiting and preparing leaders for public office through identifying, grooming, and sponsoring qualified popular candidates for elections.

Advocating for policies and governance reforms by engaging support groups, particularly youths and women, to drive reforms.

Others recommendations include prioritizing collective party interest by ensuring personal interests do not override the party’s collective goals.

Empowering youth and women leaders which include Strengthening the office of the youth and women leader to enhance electoral success.

Likewise, prevention of vote manipulation by developing strategies to prevent vote manipulation at all levels.

The national legal adviser should co-ordinate state legal advisers to recover offices from elected defectors.

The leadership of the party is charged to incorporate political support groups into party programmes.

The funding of the party should be made the responsibility of all members.

Also the party leadership was advised to foster total support for religious tolerance.

The party should advocate for physical federalism (resource control).

Tax relief was also suggested by the coalition urging the leadership of the party to support zero taxation and levies on low-income earners.

It called for internal party democracy and strengthen party Institutions to promote stability and effectiveness.

Ultimately, the coalition charged that party leadership to promote within the party.
