Fulham’s Nigerian stars Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi delivered standout performances on Tuesday night, despite the club falling 5-4 to Manchester City in a chaotic Premier League encounter at Craven Cottage.
The pair were central to Fulham’s attack, contributing three goals and driving the team’s second-half push in a match dominated by end-to-end momentum swings.
Iwobi shines in the middle
Iwobi dictated Fulham’s flow from midfield, combining efficiently in transition and constantly progressing the ball into advanced areas.
His influence culminated in a brilliant right-footed strike from distance in the 57th minute, a moment that proved his importance for Marco Silva’s side.

The midfielder also created the sequence leading to Emile Smith Rowe’s goal in the first half, while the hosts were down with three goals, courtesy of Erling Haaland, Tijjani Reijnders and Phil Foden.
Chukwueze sparks second-half surge
Introduced at halftime, Chukwueze shifted the gear completely. The winger’s direct running unsettled City’s back line, and he struck twice in quick succession, first in the 73rd minute and again in the 78th, to pull Fulham back into contention, although the side ware already 5-4 down.
Chukwueze nearly completed a hat-trick late on, dragging a left-footed effort inches wide as Fulham searched for an equaliser.
Haaland hits new milestone
While Fulham’s Nigerians impressed, the decisive factor remained Erling Haaland’s output.
The striker scored early to break the record of the fastest Premier League player to reach record 100 goals in 111 games.
He also assisted twice and struck the post as he continued his record-setting form in the Premier League.
Despite Fulham’s spirited fightback, Manchester City’s held their breath to grab the win.
