The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has expressed deep concern over what it described as the systematic killing, rape, and displacement of Christians in various parts of the country, insisting that Nigeria is witnessing an ongoing Christian genocide.
PFN National President, Bishop Wale Oke, issued the warning during a dinner organised to commemorate the Fellowship’s 40th anniversary.
He declared that the Christian community would no longer remain silent in the face of persistent assaults on Christian populations and urged the Federal Government to take decisive action to halt the violence.
“Our members, in their millions, intercede for this nation every single day. In our homes, churches, assemblies and services, we fast and pray for Nigeria. The impact of PFN across this country is immeasurable. Pentecostals are everywhere, in every ward, local government, and state, shining as the light of the world and contributing to national development. Our greatest weapon is spiritual,” Oke said.
The dinner also saw President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima pay tribute to the PFN for its sustained prayers and contributions to national stability.
Speaking on behalf of the President, Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Dr Daniel Bwala, acknowledged that many Christian communities continue to face severe challenges on account of their faith.
“My administration recognises that there are communities in Nigeria that, because of their faith, have faced serious difficulties. We acknowledge the challenges, and we recognise that Christians have also been victims of violence. The loss of any life is regrettable,” Bwala said.
He urged Nigerians to remain prayerful, assuring that the government remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens.
