Cholera Claims 13 Lives In Adamawa


Cholera outbreak has claimed 13 lives in Mubi-North and Mubi-South local government areas of Adamawa State.

Commssioner for Health and Human Services in the State, Chief Felix Tangwami, made the disclosure shortly after the State Executive Council meeting presided by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta in Yola on Wednesday.

Tangwami attributed the outbreak to contaminated source of drinking water in the two local areas.

He said the fatalities were from 236 infected persons, adding that 21 people were currently on admission receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre and General Hospital Mubi.

According to him, 50 health workers from the state Primary Health care Development Agency (PHCDA), as well as case management team are on the top of the situation.

The Commssioner urged people of the area to report new case to nearby health facilities.
