Chiefs vs Giants Prediction & Odds

Chiefs vs Giants Prediction & Odds

The Kansas City Chiefs are in a place that maybe they didn’t think they’d be, at 0-2, and to be honest, it wasn’t all that unreasonable, considering that they had to play two formidable opponents (Chargers, Eagles).

They are in a very competitive division (the AFC West), so they had better hustle if they want to be in the middle of the race for another conference title.

On Sunday they’ll travel to face off against another 0-2 club, the New York Giants, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

The Giants found some offense on Sunday

Even in last weekend’s heartbreaking defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, the Giants seemed to find an offensive groove that was not there in the opener against Washington.

Russell Wilson, whose job was supposedly in jeopardy if you believed the media critics, threw for 450 yards, with three touchdowns of 25 or more yards. Malik Nabers was on the other end of 167 of those yards, including a 48-yarder with 25 seconds left that appeared to seal the deal for Big Blue.

The Giants also got rookie first-round draft pick Jaxson Dart in for a few snaps. And rookie running back Cam Skattebo showed some real grit and determination, with 45 rushing yards, and he’ll get some more playing time.

What to be concerned about with the Chiefs

When they played host to the Eagles, perhaps the best team in the NFL, the Chiefs  did a more than credible defensive job, allowing only 216 total yards. That’s the good part.

The not-so-good part is that they still have some problems to solve when it comes to the ground game. You don’t ever want to have a situation when Patrick Mahomes has 66 rushing yards, which is more than half your team total.

What to be concerned about with the Giants

This team gets penalized too much. The Giants drew 21 flags on Sunday, with 14 accepted for 160 yards. That represents a lot of setbacks. Unbelievably, left tackle James Hudson III committed four penalties on one drive, including two personal fouls. After coaches pulled him, he clashed with them on the sidelines — enough to leave both James Hudsons embarrassed.

This is a lack of discipline, which reflects on head coach Brian Daboll. On the drive in question, the Giants gained 110 yards, only to settle for a field goal.

And when it came to holding the Cowboys for 25 seconds at the end of the game, they could not, and Dallas got a 64-yard field goal lto send it into overtime.

What will happen in the Chiefs-Giants game?

If you’re the Giants, you’re happy that they have shown they can move the ball, and that they are not already handing the ball to the rookie.

But you would much rather be facing a Kansas City team that is 2-0 than 0-2. The Chiefs won’t be lacking focus, and that’s not where the Giants want to be. At the same time, Mahomes doesn’t have his full complement of wide receivers and lacks a big-time ground attack, and the Giants have a front seven that will keep plenty of pressure on him. Defense might rule.
