Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has disclosed that Red Devils youngster Chido Obi was rushed to the first team too early.
Obi joined Manchester United after impressing with Arsenal’s under-18s, where he scored 32 goals in 23 games. However, he left Arsenal as he didn’t see a clear pathway to the first team.
When he joined Manchester United, he was almost immediately thrust into the first team, making eight appearances across all competitions without scoring a goal.

Speaking with the club’s website, the Portuguese tactician admitted that he feels the 17-year-old may have made his debut for the club too early, but that there was little other choice amid injuries.
“He (Chido) played last year, but I think it was too soon,” Amorim said when asked about Obi’s chances of stepping in for the injured Benjamin Sesko.
“We didn’t have a team we could put a young kid of 16 into and him not struggle. He’s one of the guys but he started too soon.
” Sometimes it’s hard to deal with that, with the kids, because they think that ‘I’m already here’. We need to be careful with that.”
