Chiamaka Nnadozie Lands Nomination For 2025 IFFHS Women’s World Best Goalkeeper Award

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been shortlisted for the 2025 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Goalkeeper award, placing her among ten of the finest shot-stoppers in the world.

Chiamaka Nnadozie is the only African on the list. The 24-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion star has competition from some of football’s biggest names, including Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC), Spain’s Cata Coll (Barcelona), England’s Hannah Hampton (Chelsea), and Chile’s Christiane Endler (Lyon).

Also shortlisted are Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands/Arsenal), Katharine Tapia (Colombia/Palmeiras), Lorena Leite (Brazil/Kansas City Current), Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA/Manchester United), and Jennifer Falk (Sweden/Häcken).

The IFFHS award, which was founded in 1987, recognises outstanding performances across several football categories each year. Winners are selected by journalists and football analysts from over 120 countries.

The 2025 results will be announced in December, when the federation will also release the year’s official rankings for goalkeepers, players, referees, and coaches.

The nomination caps off a remarkable year for Nnadozie. Since joining Brighton, she has become one of the standout goalkeepers in the Women’s Super League, earning praise for her quick reflexes and commanding presence.

Earlier this week, she was nominated for the Barclays WSL Save of the Month award for October, following a superb stop from Tottenham midfielder Eveliina Summanen’s free-kick.

Her form has been just as impressive on the international stage. Nnadozie was named Best Goalkeeper at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after playing a vital role in Nigeria’s strong campaign.

In September, she became the first Nigerian and African goalkeeper to be nominated for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, where she finished fourth.

She is also in contention for the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, a title she is widely expected to claim for the third time in a row.

If Nnadozie wins the IFFHS honour, she would become the first African woman ever to be named World Best Goalkeeper.
