The Group Managing Director (GMD) of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, has endowed the sum of N500,000 for the best graduating students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State.
The prize money which will get to the recipients during the University’s 2025 convocation ceremony he said would be distributed across three categories: the overall best graduating student of the university, the best graduating student from the Faculty of Management Sciences, and the best graduating student in the Department of Accountancy.
Specifically, he said that N250,000 would be awarded to the overall best graduating student, N150,000 to the best graduating student from the Faculty of Management Sciences, and N100,000 to the best graduating student in the Department of Accountancy.
Dr. Igbojindu, an Accountant and alumnus of the university, made the announcement during a visit to the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, in his office on Friday.
According to him, the gesture is a way of expressing his appreciation to the university for instilling learning in him and shaping his character.
Besides,he also announced the donation of a 500-capacity tent for the university’s 2025 convocation ceremony.
Dr. Frank Odinaka Igbojindu, GMD of Akpoazaa Group, a philanthropist and an indigene of Okija, Anambra State, is a proud alumnus of the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, from where he bagged his Diploma, BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Accountancy in that order.
He said that he had many more plans in store for his alma mater, an institution he emphasizes significantly shaped his life.
The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ikechebelu, had in his response commended Dr. Igbojindu for his generosity, noting that university education greatly benefits from alumni support.
He said the university is always proud of the success of its graduates and encouraged other members of the school’s alumni association to consider giving back to the institution.
UNIZIK he noted is known for grooming people for responsibility.
In same token,the former Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. PVC Okoye, the current Dean, Prof. Frank Nwankwo, and the Head of the Department of Accountancy, Dr. Nestor Amahalu, expressed their gratitude to Dr. Igbojindu, referring to him as a proud son of the university.
They also urged other successful members of the University alumni to join him in strengthening and improving the institution.
