CDS Project: Corps Member Asks Health Minister To Step Up Efforts To Stem Menstrual Infections

BIRNIN-KEBBI – A serving corps member serving with Ministry for Information and Culture, Kebbi State, Miss Mernyi Joyce Iwuese, has urged the Minister of Health, Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu Pate, to step up campaigns in schools to tame the prevalence of menstrual infections among growing up girls.

She made the call in Birnin Kebbi at Command girls science college Birnin Kebbi when she unveiled her community development project (CDS), according to her the essence of the project is to create awareness on the need for matured and about to mature girls to know how to maintain personal menstrual hygiene to guard against infections associated with poor menstrual hygiene.

Speaking to news men shortly after distributing free sanitary pads to young schoolgirls, she tasked the federal ministry of health under the leadership of Pate to redouble efforts in curtailing the surge of menstrual infections through aggressive campaigns “I got my motivation through the need for me to touch as many lives as possible hence the reason i undertook the project with my little resources and some funds from the Commanding officer Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi.”

During the programme about two hundred girls benefited from free sanitary pads even as paper and a short drama was presented by students of the school.

In his address, the Commanding officer one battalion Nigeria Army Dukku Barracks represented by Lieutenant . P. Ambe thanked the corps member for her thought and her choice of the school as the beneficiaries of the project.
