Catholic Priest, Chidi Unegbu Backs Trump’s Move To Attack Nigeria Over Killing Of Christians

A Catholic priest, Fada Angelo Chidi Unegbu, has publicly supported former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments on Nigeria’s alleged persecution of Christians, calling for urgent international intervention.

Trump had earlier designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and hinted at possible military measures to curb what he described as the “targeted killing of Christians” in the country — a stance that has sparked mixed reactions nationwide.

While some Nigerians, especially Christians, applauded the move, others argued that the nation’s security crisis is rooted in criminality, not religion.

Reacting in a post shared via his Facebook page on Sunday, Fada Angelo commended Trump’s position and criticized the Nigerian government’s inaction.

He revealed that he and several others had repeatedly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the wave of violence and insecurity but claimed that their calls had gone unanswered.

“We have been appealing to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu all this while to stop the killings,” the priest wrote. “He has all it takes to end insecurity and injustice in Nigeria, yet he turned a deaf ear. Humans are slaughtered daily like cows.”

Fada Angelo further accused the government of allowing terrorists to “walk freely,” while “peaceful protesters and agitators are either killed or languishing in detention.”

In another post, he expressed concern about the worsening situation, saying, “If the U.S. comes to our aid, the chances are 50/50. But if not, our doom is sealed. Donald J. Trump, please come quickly.”

The priest’s statement has stirred debates online, with some Nigerians supporting his bold plea for foreign assistance, while others insist that domestic reforms, not foreign intervention, remain the solution to Nigeria’s security woes.
