Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji has sparked a major online debate after she replied sharply to a man on X (formerly Twitter) who advised Igbo men to avoid marrying Igbo women.
His comment followed a viral photo featuring a Rwandan lady said to be engaged to an Anambra man.

The man’s advice
The X user reshared the image and wrote, “Dear Igbo men, instead of marrying an Igbo woman who’ll falsely accuse you of raping your daughter, better look outside for a wife.”
He added, “Go to East Africa, especially Rwanda, and pick a damsel. They’re all over social media, and you can link up with them.”
Actress reacts to controversial advice
Genevieve, who rarely joins online arguments, replied, “In other words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it.”

Users defend and challenge her stance
Another user tried to counter her, claiming she misunderstood the point and that the post targeted “false rape accusers.”
The user questioned her response, saying, “His tweet was clearly against false rape accusers, but instead of holding the evil women accountable and demanding change, you chose to tweet this?”
The actress answered firmly, “The same way a woman can’t tell an abusive man apart from a good one is the same way you shouldn’t say avoid all Igbo women. ‘Not all women’.”
