Six-time Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Women’s Player of the Year and four-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) winner, Asisat Oshoala, has been appointed as a CAF Ambassador — a new milestone in her outstanding football career.
The Confederation of African Football confirmed her appointment in a statement on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024.
In an announcement shared on X, CAF Women wrote, “Welcome Asisat Oshoala, our new CAF Ambassador.”

The 30-year-old Nigerian forward, who currently plays for Al Hilal in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, received the recognition during a formal ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco.
As a CAF Ambassador, Oshoala joins a distinguished group of African football icons chosen to promote the sport across the continent, inspire young talents, and support causes related to youth development and gender equality.
The Lagos-born striker, who has claimed six CAF Women’s Player of the Year titles and four WAFCON championships with the Super Falcons, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in African women’s football.
Her new role will see her represent CAF at official engagements, work closely with aspiring players through youth programmes, and help promote CAF tournaments around the world.
Oshoala’s appointment further strengthens her reputation as a role model and pioneer for women in sports, while underscoring CAF’s dedication to empowering female athletes and advancing the women’s game across Africa.
