“Additionally, a globally recognised Turkish company is building solar panels and smart electric meters in Bayelsa, which will not only create jobs but also boost the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),” he said.

He also stressed the state’s commitment to security and collaboration with residents.

“We also do an essential thing which is creating an uncommon partnership and collaborating with the people of the state to ensure that the people would work together with security agencies in terms of showing ownership and responsibility, which is what we are able to do,” Abednego added. He described Bayelsa as a safe state for both residents and investors.

On the broader development agenda, Abednego emphasised energy sufficiency as a key driver.

“The next is opening up the state for investments, which we look at areas of building capacity, and also to look at the area of energy. Energy sufficiency is one major crucial thing in development. So, in Bayelsa State, the state government has looked further, not just constructing roads and bridges but also to ensure, by December this year, which is exactly three months from now, Bayelsa State is going to be the first state to have uninterrupted electricity,” he said.
