Buffon son nets first hat-trick as Czechia crush Azerbaijan 6-1

Louis Thomas Buffon, son of Italian football legend Gianluigi Buffon, announced himself on the international stage with a stunning hat-trick for Czechia’s Under-19 team in their 6-1 win over Azerbaijan in the European Championship qualifiers.

The 17-year-old forward, who plays for Serie A club Pisa, chose to represent his mother’s homeland, Czechia.

His mother, Alena Šeredová, is a Czech television presenter and model, while his father, Gigi Buffon, is regarded as one of football’s greatest goalkeepers.

Unlike his father, Louis operates at the other end of the pitch as a striker. Leading the line in Ta’Qali, he produced a standout performance, scoring three goals and providing an assist, his first goals at U-19 level in just his fifth appearance for the national team.

From Juventus roots to Pisa progress

Buffon began his football journey in Juventus’ youth academy before joining Pisa in the summer of 2023. His rapid development earned him a Serie A debut on October 5, 2025, against Bologna.

Interestingly, Buffon’s current coach at Pisa is Alberto Gilardino, a former Italy international and teammate of his father in the 2006 World Cup-winning squad.

Louis Buffon’s hat-trick marks a milestone moment in his young career.
