Tottenham made a strong start, taking the lead in the fifth minute through Rodrigo Bentancur’s first goal of 2025.
The Uruguayan midfielder capitalized on defensive confusion after Joao Palhinha’s header dropped loose in the box, smashing home from close range following a delivery from Mohammed Kudus.

Rogers spearheads comeback, Buendia finishes it
Morgan Rogers spearheaded the comeback with a stunning equalizer midway through the first half, curling a 20-yard effort over Guglielmo Vicario and under the crossbar, his first goal of the season.
Both sides had penalty shouts waved away after challenges involving Kevin Danso and Ezri Konsa, but it was Villa who found the decisive moment.
With 13 minutes left, Matty Cash launched a cross-field ball to Lucas Digne, whose cutback found substitute Buendia.
The Argentine midfielder made no mistake, firing low into the bottom corner to seal the victory.
