BUA Group has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic attack that occurred on Friday, September 5, 2025, near its facility in Okpella, Edo State, where eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and a civilian driver were killed.
In a statement released by the company’s management, BUA extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers, the NSCDC, and the Federal Government of Nigeria, while also wishing the injured officers a speedy recovery.
The company confirmed that a foreign expatriate was abducted during the incident, though four others were rescued unharmed. BUA said it is working closely with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted staff and to bring the perpetrators of what it described as a “heinous act” to justice.
“The safety of our people, partners, and host communities remains paramount. This tragedy is a painful reminder of the sacrifices borne daily by our security personnel. Their courage will never be forgotten,” the statement read in part.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing insecurity facing industrial operations and communities in Edo State and across Nigeria, where armed groups have increasingly targeted security operatives and expatriate workers.
