BringBackOurGirls2025: Mike Arnold demands urgent rescue of Kebbi schoolgirls

A former Mayor of Blanco, Texas, United States, Mike Arnold, has condemned the attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, where gunmen killed the Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducted 25 female students.

Reacting to the incident via his X handle on Tuesday, Arnold wrote: “11 years after Chibok, 25 more girls stolen from school in Kebbi. #BringBackOurGirls2025 demands: Immediate rescue operations, armed school security, and zero tolerance for ransoms. Who’s with me?”

Arnold, who has been actively using the #BringBackOurGirls2025 hashtag, has since generated widespread discussion on social media, with Nigerians sharing posts featuring the hashtag and calling for urgent government action.

The attack, which occurred in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, left several other pupils and staff severely injured. The gunmen reportedly stormed the school on Sunday night, firing sporadically before abducting the students. The incident has renewed concerns over school security, particularly in rural communities vulnerable to bandit attacks.

Federal authorities have deployed security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, to Kebbi State to rescue the abducted pupils.

The #BringBackOurGirls2025 movement, revived by the latest attack, continues to trend on social media as Nigerians demand the safe return of the students and stronger measures to protect schools nationwide.
