
Valentine Day fun seekers at the Rockview Hotel Owerri were seen running helter skelter for their lives when a fire outbreak occurred on the third floor of a seven-storey edifice Friday.
The inferno which occurred at about 7pm, was noticed in one of the rooms on the floor when all of a sudden, smoke filled the atmosphere, leading to hundreds of guests of the hotel, including non-Africans who had lodged there rushing out to save their lives.
However, it was the timely intervention of the men of the Fire Service stationed at the nearby Imo state government house called in by the authorities that quenched the fire after about one hour.
Although, the cause of the inferno was not made known by the authorities as at the time of filing this report, Blueprint correspondent gathered that it was an electrical fault in the said room.
