President Bola Tinubu has reportedly approved the establishment of a new Depot Nigerian Army in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital.

Major General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, disclosed the development in a video shared by Dada Olusegun, the special assistant to President Tinubu on social media.

How many Depot Nigeria Army existed?

According to the presidential aide, the development has increased the number of depots in Nigeria to three. For decades, only two have existed, which are in Kaduna, Osogbo and Abakaliki.

Major General Shaibu spoke at the passing out parade of the 89 Regular Intake of the Nigerian Army at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State on Saturday, December 13, following the completion of their six months of intensive training.

The army boss then urged the 3,439 newly trained recruits of the Nigerian Army to exercise the highest level of discipline, loyalty and professionalism as they were officially members of the force.

The video, which was shared by the presidential aide, has started generating reactions from some Nigerians. Below are some of their reactions:

Ansem Edet commended President Tinubu:

“I don’t know what people think restructuring is, but Bola Tinubu is slowly doing it; the bomb will come with the 6th constitutional alteration. If I were Tinubu, I would pay influencers to talk about it every day because all the answers are in there.”

Joe Best said this should have been done since 1999:
