BREAKING: Bandits Kidnap 10 Residents In Kano Community

Ten residents of Tsanyawa Local Government Area in Kano State were abducted on Monday night after armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on two neighbouring villages.

The assailants were said to have stormed Biresawa and Tsundu villages around 10 p.m., taking five people from each community.

A resident of Biresawa, Kabiru Usman, whose family members were among those kidnapped, said the attackers arrived on foot and were heavily armed.

“They came with guns and kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife; and two other women,” he explained.

Usman added that community members attempted to resist the attackers but were overpowered due to the superior weapons the bandits carried.

He also revealed that residents had earlier alerted security agencies after receiving warnings that the gang was moving toward their area.

“Before the attack, we got information that they were heading toward us, so we notified both the police and the military because they had given us numbers to call in case of any threat,” he said.

He appealed to the government to help secure the release of the abducted residents and strengthen security in the area.

However, Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa, spokesperson, Kano State Police Command said the command would verify the incident and issue an official statement.

The latest abduction comes amid reports of rising bandit activity in Kano border communities, allegedly linked to armed groups relocating from neighbouring Katsina State following a recent peace pact affecting Ingawa, Kankia, and Kusada LGAs.
