Mavin Records artiste Boy Spyce has announced new music for Friday. The record which he titled Shout was tagged a “personal apology to myself” by the artist when he announced the release on his X platform.

Since he was announced by Mavin Records, Boy Spyce has struggled to build an identity for himself and has over time had connectivity issues with the fans. Though he has been present on Mavin hit songs like Overloading, Won Da Mo and Carry Me Go with Khaid, he has struggled to make a mark by himself, with most of his singles not representing as they should.

Boy Spyce came into the industry with a lot of expectations. The industry was desperately searching for the next kid superstar from Mavin after Rema, and when Boy Spyce first appeared on the internet with a freestyle that blew the minds of all, the general consensus was that this is a talent to look out for. When he was announced under Mavin a few weeks later, many felt that the artist had the machinery behind him to become a superstar.

 A do or die moment?

His career seems to have taken a drastic turn since his debut. The young boy once loved by all is now resented by many. After his spat with X influencers, he lose love and support from that angle. His music struggled to find a place in the hearts of listeners. Some were of the opinion that his music and lyrics were corny, some say he is not just who they imagined him to be. For one reason or the other, Boy Spyce has not been what it looked like he was supposed to.

He did come close with Folake. The song currently has about 9 million streams on Spotify, and found it’s way into the nightlife scene and social media. Still, it didn’t do enough to be considered a national hit at least. His other releases have struggled, with many listeners not aware that he put out a single titled Lose recently.

In his latest announcement on social media, he previewed no music and captioned the announcement as an apology to himself. It’s easy to understand where he is coming from. One can say he has disappointed himself, and by extension the people that expected a lot from him. A quick search on social media shows he has a terrible relationship with the media, influencers do not really like him because of his disregard for them and fans are generally indifferent about him, only mentioning him in conversations criticizing him.

It feels like a do or die moment for Boy Spyce. He’s aware of this. He feels like he has let down a lot of hope and trust put in him. He’s out with a mission to correct notions. Fix them, one might say. He’s promised Shout on Friday, and I do hope this is the beginning of something new for him. We wait for Friday, Boy Spice, eagerly.
