The Director-General of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Barkindo Mohammed, has described the flooding crisis in Maiduguri as "terrible" following the collapse of Alau Dam early Tuesday morning.  The dam's failure has led to widespread flooding, with several wards in the city submerged, leaving thousands of residents displaced and scrambling for safer locations. Speaking on Tuesday, September 10, Mohammed highlighted the agency's ongoing rescue efforts, including the distribution of sandbags to mitigate the rising water levels. However, he shared the dire situation facing emergency responders, stating that even his team had become trapped while attempting to save others. "Just now, we went for a rescue and proceeded to distribute sandbags in Gozari. As I am talking to you now, I am trapped; we came to rescue some people, and we are now trapped with my staff," Mohammed said.  The post Borno flood situation still terrible SEMA appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
