Boost for Sevilla! Super Eagles star gets set for La Liga return

3 hours ago 15

Snubbed Nigerian striker Akor Adams will return to action at Sevilla after the international break after spending the last five weeks on the sidelines due to a tendon problem, Soccernet.ng reports.

Adams joined Sevilla in January after spending the last 18 months at Ligue 1 club Montpellier. However, he played just one game before suffering a tendon injury at the start of February.

That injury was supposed to keep him out for at least five weeks, and that has kept him out of action since then. However, he started pitch work two weeks ago. But he still had to regain his match fitness before returning to game action. Hence, he missed Los Nervioneses’ 1-0 win against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta on Sunday.

However, his return date has been set. According to Dario de Sevilla, Akor Adams will return to action after the international break. This means that he will miss their game against Athletic Club this weekend.

Recall that he was initially named in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, but he did not make it into the final 23-man squad.

Akor Adams is supposed to return to action in two weeks, and this international break gives him time to re-strategise so he can start firing on all cylinders.

He will likely start from the bench, but he will surely get his minutes eventually. The Nigerian striker has to start scoring goals if he wants to displace Isaac Romero as the first-choice striker- something Sadiq Umar is doing with remarkable efficiency at the moment.

Moreover, if he does not start performing now, he may have to leave Sevilla for a smaller club in a few months.
