Boniface led NNPP rubbishes suspension of Kawu, three other NNPP National Assembly members

The Chairman of the Boniface- led faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Kano State, Mas”ud el-Jibril Doguwa has rubbished the purported suspension of Senator Abdulraham Kawu Sumaila and three other NNPP National Assembly members from the state.

Doguwa while speaking to Daily Sun, onTuesday in Kano, stressed that the Kwankwaso- led faction of the NNPP has no mandate in law to suspend any official of the NNPP given the substituting judgment of an Abia High Court, which had clearly nullified their assumed leadership position of the party and withdrew their relevance in the party.

He further asserted that going by the constitution of the NNPP, no state Chairman or his mentor has the powers to discipline, suspend or sack a NEC member of the NNPP, adding that the purportedly suspended legislators are all NEC members of NNPP by virtue of their positions as elected National Assembly members.

He also charged: “Though both factions are recognized as NNPP by naming, our logos are clearly different and have no relationship whatsoever. While the Kwankwaso NNPP has books and caps as its logo, ours has food and basket as our logo. So for him(Hashimu Dungurawa) to announce the suspension of our members is not only ridiculous, mischievous, deliberately misleading but also litigious”

“In any case, there is no breach of the NNPP constitution or the Nigeria law anywhere in this matter. That someone failed to invite you to his wedding party or his university’s ceremonies cannot be an offence by any standard. Invitation to social gathering is not official. In any case, they were invited, but failed to attend because they were intimidated by Kawu Sumaila’s rising profile and national visibility,” he stated.

Doguwa regretted that their failure to recognize what constitutes a breach of the NNPP’s constitution or to recognize the right of fair hearing in their conduct and pronouncement against these esteemed political figures only but affirmed the popular notion in the public domain that the Kwankwaso -led NNPP is a stranger to democratic behavior and is gravely unfamiliar with constitutional party procedures.

“And I think that if they continue to make these unfortunate pronouncements, we will be left with no other option but to seek the intervention of the court”he declared angrily.

It could be recalled that the Chairman of the Kwankwaso led faction of the NNPP in kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa had on Monday announced the suspension of Senator Kawu and the NNPP members representing Rogo Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Sani Rogo, Rano/ Kibya Federal Constituency, Abdulhahi Rirum and Dala Federal Constituency, Ali Madakin Gini for anti- party activities.
