The first edition of Red Bull Encouraged took center stage in Lagos on Saturday, November 15, 2025, delivering a BMX competition unlike anything ever seen in Nigeria.
A record attendance at the Lagos Encourage Park witnessed a thrilling showcase of skill, creativity, and community.
The Format: Mentorship Meets Competition
In a first-of-its-kind team format, three international BMX athletes—Garrett Reynolds, Gaspar Guendulain, and George Ntavoutian led nine local BMX athletes as team captains.

Over a five-day period, these captains took the local riders under their wings, transferring invaluable knowledge and skills. This mentorship phase was designed to elevate the local athletes’ application and execution on the ramps, all under the watchful eyes of event judges Courage Adams, Bruno Hoffmann, and Ryan Corrigan.
The competition itself thrilled the crowd, with athletes delivering smooth, creative, and highly technical runs that utilized the full complement of the park’s jump boxes and street elements.
