In a vibrant gathering of literary enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and creatives, Dr. Feyikemi Oyaleke was honoured by Better Life for Authors and Publishers Association of Nigeria (BLAPAN) with the esteemed title of Queen of “Literapreneur.” This special recognition was bestowed upon the author during the launch of her long-awaited three literary works – “Breaking Barriers – Unlocking the Power of Positivity,” “A Pink Afternoon – Chronicles of Love,” and “Attitude – The Fragrance of Personality,” and the unveiling of Pinkspire Magazine on what was described as a ‘pink afternoon’ filled with joy, laughter, and inspiration.
The event, held on November 6, in Lagos, in a sea of pink attire and radiant smiles, was more than a mere book launch. It was a celebration of Dr. Oyaleke’s remarkable journey, one that intertwines the worlds of literature and entrepreneurship, creating a new space for authors who are not only writers but also innovators, educators, and business leaders. Through her work and passion, Dr. Oyaleke has become a prime example of a literapreneur, someone who blends literary creativity with entrepreneurial spirit to inspire, educate, and uplift.
As the event kicked off, Dr. Oyaleke addressed the gathering with a warm, heartfelt speech that set the tone for the day. “Today isn’t just about launching books,” she said, her voice radiating both strength and humility. “It’s about launching a moment of laughter, reflection, and the sweet madness called love.”
She invited the crowd into a world of creativity, joy, and insight, explaining that, much like a “lunch break” or “coffee break,” people often forget to take “laugh breaks”, moments to simply bask in the joy of life. It was in this spirit of laughter, love, and reflection that Dr. Oyaleke’s books were brought into the world, after many years in creative ‘labour room.’
“I want you to know today that we’re not just celebrating the arrival of books,” Dr. Oyaleke continued, “but the triumph of creativity, persistence, and belief in the impossible.” Her three literary works, Breaking Barriers – Unlocking the Power of Positivity, A Pink Afternoon – Chronicles of Love and Attitude – The Fragrance of Personality, were described as her “literary babies” born after years of hard work, setbacks, and triumphs.
It was in this context of overcoming barriers and embracing entrepreneurship that BLAPAN decided to bestow upon Dr. Oyaleke the title of Queen of Literapreneur. The award reflects not just her literary accomplishments but her entrepreneurial achievements as well. Dr. Oyaleke’s ability to merge her passion for writing with sharp business acumen has set her apart as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s literary and publishing scene.
The association lauded her for not only creating impactful literary works but also for her commitment to empowering others, whether through mentorship, collaborations, or her contributions to the literary economy. In the words of the BLAPAN President, Hon. Feyi Abiodun, “Dr. Oyaleke has demonstrated what it means to be a literapreneur: a visionary who uses literature to inspire, build, and transform communities.”
Dr. Oyaleke’s journey to literary success and recognition has been nothing short of remarkable. Reflecting on her personal story, she shared with the audience how, at the age of 15, she was faced with a life-altering challenge that would change the course of her life.
“I was only 15 years old when life gave me a card,” she shared, allegorically recalling her unexpected pregnancy. “There was no mentor, no guide, and no nurturing hand to help me understand what was happening. I was left to face it alone, and in that loneliness, I discovered the power of my imagination.”
Despite the harsh realities and judgments she faced as a young woman, Dr. Oyaleke found strength in her creativity. “The pregnancy became a vision,” she said. “A thick park of hope in a world that felt otherwise blind.” That vision eventually evolved into the powerful and inspirational books that were launched that day.
Through these early struggles, Dr. Oyaleke found her calling, a blend of literary creation and entrepreneurial drive that would become her life’s work. As she navigated the highs and lows of writing and publishing, she realized that the key to success was not just talent, but also a mindset that embraced both creativity and business acumen. This combination, she believes, is what truly defines a literapreneur.
The launch event was a celebration of Dr. Oyaleke’s personal and professional journey, and it was steeped in gratitude. She thanked those who had supported her along the way, from her family to mentors, colleagues, and friends. “When I made my choices, I know I disappointed some people,” she admitted, referring to her early years. “But I stand here today, stronger and more supported than ever.”
Among those honored by Dr. Oyaleke was her husband, who has been her steadfast supporter throughout her career. “He’s the man behind the camera, always cheering me on and supporting my dreams,” she said, adding a personal touch to the otherwise formal proceedings.
She also expressed deep appreciation for her parents, acknowledging their forgiveness and the role they played in her ultimate success. “Thank you, Mommy and Daddy, for standing by me, even when I disappointed you. I’m here today because of your unwavering love.”
Dr. Oyaleke’s story of redemption and perseverance resonated with the audience, making the event not just a book launch but also a powerful message about the transformative power of love, support, and determination.
In the spirit of mentorship, Dr. Oyaleke also recognized the young voices in the room, including a 13-year-old aspiring author. “Keep pushing,” she urged the young writer, promising to help bring her work to life. “I was once in your shoes, and now look where I am.”
The theme of mentorship was further underscored as Dr. Oyaleke acknowledged a former teacher who had once read her early manuscript more than 30 years ago. “She asked me, ‘Where are your parents?’” Dr. Oyaleke recalled fondly. “And today, she’s here to witness the birth of that dream.”
The event concluded on a note of celebration, laughter, and learning. Dr. Oyaleke had promised a “lunch break, laugh break,” and she delivered, ensuring the day was filled with joy, fun, and moments of inspiration. The audience was encouraged to take home not only books but also lessons on resilience, positivity, and the power of combining creativity with entrepreneurship.
In her final words, Dr. Oyaleke summed up the essence of the day: “Today isn’t just about my books. It’s about celebrating the journey of creativity, love, and the power we all have to change the world.”
With the title of Queen of Literapreneur now formally added to her many accomplishments, Dr. Feyikemi Oyaleke’s future as a writer, mentor, and businessperson looks even brighter.
The event was marked by several exciting highlights, including the launch of three inspiring books and the unveiling of a new magazine. The books launched were Breaking Barriers – Unlocking the Power of Positivity, reviewed by Prof. Oladunjoye Sefiu Ayande of Olabisi Onabanjo University; A Pink Afternoon – Chronicles of Love, reviewed by Dr. Oluwakemi Akintoye; and Attitude – The Fragrance of Personality. The Chief Launcher for the books was Alhaji Nureni Babatunde, the Giwa of Wasimi Land, while Madam Funke Treasure served as the Chief Launcher for the magazine. The event also featured the grand unveiling of Pinkspire Magazine, adding a vibrant touch to the celebration of literature and inspiration.
