Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will heave a sigh of relief after Bruno Fernandes’ late penalty kick earned the Red Devils a valuable 3-2 win over Burnley in Saturday’s Premier League game at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese tactician has come under immense pressure after the team’s exit from the Carabao Cup thanks to a penalty shootout loss to fourth-tier side Grimsby on Wednesday.
Amorim’s position will remain under scrutiny after Saturday’s hard-fought win against Burnley, but United at least head into the international break on the back of their first win of the season.
The Red Devils took the lead in the 27th minute thanks to Josh Cullen’s own goal, to the delight of the home supporters.

However, Burnley replied with Lyle Foster getting on the end of a great cross after 55 minutes, but Mbeumo was fast to respond, restoring United’s lead immediately from kick-off.
With 25 minutes to play, the visitors found themselves level once again after Jaidon Anthony poked one home from close range.
In the final minute of the game, Amad was fouled in the area, and Bruno Fernandes duly converted to hand United their first win of the season.
