Benue Taskforce Arrests Notorious “Marching Ground” Gangster In Makurdi


The Benue State Taskforce on Illegal Levies and Criminality has apprehended a notorious gangster, David Yaikyo, in Makurdi.

Yaikyo, a resident of the Ajaba settlement opposite Makurdi International Market, was reportedly arrested after allegedly demanding N300,000 as a “marching ground fee” from a construction site.

According to Daily Post, operatives of the Taskforce acted promptly following a distress call, leading to Yaikyo’s arrest.

During interrogation, Yaikyo allegedly confessed to the crime and was subsequently handed over to the Police Area Command in Makurdi for detention and prosecution.

Hon. Gbenda Terver, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Youth Organisation and Illegal Levies, condemned the criminal act. He cautioned youths against involvement in such illegal activities, emphasizing that offenders would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
