Benue Speaker Presents Official Vehicles To Assembly Members


The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hyacinth Dajoh, has presented official vehicles to members of the Assembly to enhance their legislative responsibilities.

The Clerk of the House, John Hwande, also benefited from the gesture during the brief ceremony held at the Assembly complex in Makurdi.

Following the inauguration of the 10th Assembly, some lawmakers had not received official vehicles, a situation that created challenges for their duties.

The latest development is expected to ease their work and boost productivity.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Terver Zamber, confirmed that the beneficiaries include Douglas Akya, Anyor Matu, Peter Uche, Abu Edo, Abu Umoru, and Ezra Nyiyongu.

According to Zamber, the lawmakers expressed satisfaction with the move.

“They deeply appreciated the Speaker for prioritizing their welfare and equipping them to carry out their duties more effectively,” he said.

He added that the lawmakers assured the Speaker of their loyalty.

“They pledged their unwavering support and cooperation towards moving the Assembly forward under his leadership,” Zamber stated.

One of the beneficiaries, Hon. Anyor Matu, also commended the gesture, describing it as timely.

“This will enable us to reach our constituencies more frequently and attend to legislative matters without unnecessary delays,” he said.

Another member, Hon. Douglas Akya, pledged commitment to the Assembly’s vision.

“We are grateful to the Speaker for his leadership style, and we will continue to work in unity to deliver on our mandate,” he noted.

Speaker Dajoh maintained that the welfare of lawmakers remains a priority, stressing that “a well-equipped legislature is key to effective service delivery to the people.”
