Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has categorically denied rumors of his planned defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He made it clear that he won’t be joining the likes of Nasir El-Rufai in the SDP.
This clarification comes amidst widespread speculation about his political future. By setting the record straight, Governor Alia has reassured his constituents and the APC leadership of his commitment to the party.
In a briefing with the press on Wednesday the Governor stated: “All this rumours are baseless and the handiwork of mischief-makers attempting to create friction between Alia and President Bola Tinubu.
“I have never considered leaving the party that brought me into office, and I am not aligning with Nasir El-Rufai to defect to the SDP.
“The suggestion that I am contemplating a shift to the SDP, alongside Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and others, is not only laughable but completely unfounded,”
“Our remarkable performance in office has not only strengthened the APC but has also sent the opposition into hiding,”
