Fresh unrest has erupted in Michihe Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area after suspected gang members launched a deadly assault on Kumpa community on Thursday.

Sources link the attack to loyalists of Orter, a notorious gang leader in the area.

Orter reportedly admitted orchestrating the strike, claiming it was retaliation for a recent military raid in Mbagena, where soldiers stormed his hideout and seized a rifle along with other belongings.

He further accused Ali Noryila, head of the Civil Protection Guard, of tipping off security forces, vowing revenge against Noryila’s native Tse Noryila and his workplace in Abaji.

Thursday’s killings in Kumpa are now seen as a warning shot in that vendetta, heightening fears of a wider cycle of violence. Alarmed residents are urging security agencies to act swiftly to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
