Beeta Arts Festival Returns To Abuja For 5th Edition


The Beeta Arts Festival (BAF) will return to Abuja for its fifth edition, featuring a three-day programme spotlighting emerging voices in theatre, film, literature and the broader creative economy.

This year’s festival, themed “Connected Voices”, is scheduled for December 5-7.

Founded by actor and producer Bikiya Graham-Douglas, the festival has featured creatives from over 13 countries since its inception.

The 2025 edition will open with a strong theatre lineup featuring Ivie Okujaiye, Habiba Zock Sock, Goodness Emmanuel, Ame Aiyejina, Daniel Okosun, Tony Edet (popularly known as Thin Tall Tony), and Abiodun Kazeem, alongside a fresh slate of rising performers. The theatre segment will again be produced by Ola Rotimi Fakunle.

The film programme, curated by filmmaker and Mandela Washington Fellow Priye Diri, will feature works by young directors across Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Tunisia, Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.

It will also include selections from the Multichoice Talent Factory alumni network, while introducing an Audience Choice Award for both theatre and film.

Music and live entertainment will feature emerging artists, with rapper and DJ Muna Abi headlining a special performance.

The festival will also hold a conversations on trends and opportunities in the creative sector, with peakers including Dimbo Atiya, Biodun Stephen, Lyndsey Efejuku, Rahama Sadau, Utee Rone, Prince “Aboki” Daniel and AI artist Malik Afegbua, in partnership with the UNDP Jubilee Fellows Programme.

A social impact dialogue on gender based violence will be held in collaboration with UN Women, the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation and the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, with speakers including representatives of Tech Her, Gender Mobile and Dr Bukky Shonibare of Invictus Africa.

Other highlights at the festival include a market space featuring fashion, crafts, books, food and wellness experiences, supported by UNDP’s #HerAFCFTA programme, as well as a literary corner hosted by Paperworth Books.

Speaking on the visions behind the festival, Graham-Douglas said, “The Beeta Arts Festival was created to amplify the power of storytelling across Africa and to create pathways for emerging talent. This year’s theme reflects our belief that art not only entertains but also unites and empowers.”
