Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has called on residents to remain patriotic and committed to the growth of the state as his administration continues to implement projects aimed at boosting social and economic development.

The governor made the call in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday to mark the 34th anniversary of Jigawa’s creation.

He noted that though relatively young, the state has made significant progress since 1991, with successive administrations recording notable achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture.

Namadi highlighted key accomplishments, including an extensive road network.

“We have completed 26 inherited ongoing road projects covering over 300 kilometres and within the same period commenced 45 new road projects spanning more than 800 kilometres,” he said.

He added that his administration had launched over 60 youth empowerment and job creation initiatives within two years, benefiting more than 300,000 people, mostly youths and women.

On education, Namadi said the state now boasts seven tertiary institutions, including two state-owned universities, to expand access to quality education.

He also noted that each of the 27 local government areas has at least one secondary health facility, supported by three health training institutions to strengthen healthcare delivery.

While expressing confidence in his administration’s 12-Point Agenda designed to accelerate socioeconomic development, the governor acknowledged persistent challenges such as high numbers of out-of-school children, subsistence-based agriculture, and untapped youth potential.

He urged citizens to contribute their quota towards building a greater Jigawa.

“Everyone has a role to play in making Jigawa State great,” he said, stressing that patriotism and collective commitment remain essential for progress.
