Bayer Leverkusen boss, Kasper Hjulmand, has assured fans that Nigerian winger, Nathan Tella, is close to returning from injury and should be back in action after the international break.
Nathan Tella has been out since September after picking up a knee injury during Leverkusen’s 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. He has been training alone in recent days as he works his way back to full fitness.
Providing an update through the club’s official website, Hjulmand said the break has come at the perfect time for the player’s recovery.
“Nathan and Axel are already back on the pitch. Both are training individually. I think the international break over the next two weeks will help,” the coach said.
Tella has featured just four times for Leverkusen across all competitions this season and has registered one assist before his injury spell. The former Southampton man is expected to return to full team training before the end of the month.
Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman has come under scrutiny following his angry reaction to being substituted in Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League win over Olympique Marseille.
The forward was taken off in the second half for Yunus Musah and appeared visibly furious as he exchanged words with manager Ivan Juric before being pulled away by teammates and members of the coaching staff.
Veteran Italian journalist Fabio Caressa was unimpressed with Lookman’s behaviour, accusing the former Leicester City winger of showing poor professionalism.
“I want to say a word about Lookman: after the summer we had, after you returned, always appearing so angry and aggressive doesn’t do anyone any good, not even him,” Caressa said, as quoted by Chiamarsibomber.
“In my opinion, it’s not the right attitude towards the club that pays you; he continues to have an unprofessional attitude.”
