Last message from the Brigade Commander of Damboa, Brig.-General Uba before he was killed by members of the Islamic State – West Africa Province, ISWAP has been revealed.
DAILY POST earlier reported that despite denial by the Nigerian Army, it was learnt on Monday that General Uba, was recently killed by ISWAP terrorists after hours of being reported missing in the forest.
According to military sources, who released the information, the commander had earlier made a video saying he was fine.
However, security expert Zagazola Makam, a in a post on X, shared Uba’s last Whatsapp chat with troops
In one of the messages, sighted by DAILY POST, the General asked, “Are they going to pick me or direct me on where to go?”
A response from the coordinating team assured him, “Sir, they will remain overhead and coordinate with the troops moving towards you, Sir.”
However, not long after, the General sent another update, revealing the state of his cell phone battery, “My battery is 31% now”, he said.
The final message indicated that General Uba attempted to make himself visible to the air component, “Sir, I am on foot, but once I see the aircraft, I can raise my peak cap.”
According to Zagazola, after the last message, the army general could no longer be reached until he was allegedly killed by the terrorists.
