Armed bandits launched a violent attack on Kafin Maiyaki community in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday night, leaving a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) dead and abducting the wives of a local trader.
The incident was first reported on Thursday by security analyst Bakatsine on X.
According to the report, the gunmen targeted the residence of Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, the chairman of the Kafin Maiyaki Traders’ Association, during the night raid. His wives were forcibly taken to an unknown location by the attackers.

During the attack, a VGN member was shot dead while attempting to defend the community.
“Yesterday night, bandits attacked Kafin Maiyaki community in Kiru LGA, Kano State; they killed one VGN member and abducted the wives of Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai, chairman of Kafin Maiyaki traders’ association,” Bakatsine wrote in the post.
As of the time of reporting, Kano State authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
