One person was killed while several others were reported missing following a violent attack by armed bandits in Shagbe village, near Igbaja town in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attack occurred at about 21:15 hours on Saturday, September 6, 2025, throwing residents into panic.
A security agent said, “One person was killed during the violent invasion and eight others declared missing.”

He added that due to the volatile situation, an on-the-spot assessment was not feasible at the time.
Reacting to the incident on Sunday, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oke-Ode has already been deployed to the area.
He added that the deployment is to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
He stated, “Our officers are on the ground to secure the community, assess the damage, and ensure the safety of the residents. We are coordinating with local vigilantes to prevent further attacks.”
The attack in Sagbe comes just hours after a large number of suspected bandits were arrested in Babanla community.
They are currently being profiled at the state police command in Ilorin, the state capital.
Residents of Shagbe village have been urged to remain vigilant.
They are also advised to report suspicious activities to security agencies as authorities continue efforts to restore peace in the affected communities.
