Bandits Kill One, Abduct 14 in Zamfara Community Attacks



Armed bandits killed one person, injured three, and abducted 14 villagers in coordinated attacks on Jangebe and Keta communities in Talata Mafara and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State on Sunday.

The first assault struck Fakon Idi in Jangebe District, Talata Mafara, around 4 a.m., when heavily armed bandits killed one resident, injured three others, and kidnapped four people, taking them to an unknown location. 

Responding swiftly, troops from Operation Fansa Yamma, alongside police and local vigilantes, engaged the attackers in a fierce gunfight, forcing their retreat into a nearby forest. 

The deceased’s body was released to relatives for burial, while the injured are being treated at Jangebe Primary Health Care Centre.In a separate incident at 12:05 p.m., bandits led by notorious kingpin Babangida Bature Yola stormed a farm between Keta and Kwaren Ganuwa villages in Tsafe LGA, abducting ten villagers forced to work there. 

The victims were taken to an undisclosed location.Authorities stated that security forces are intensifying efforts to rescue the abducted villagers and restore calm to the affected communities, amid ongoing challenges with banditry in Zamfara State.
